First Senior League Match for 2009 on 28th/29th March

(30.8.08) SHC St Gabriels 2.16 v Fr Murphys 2.10

St Gabriels hold out for hard fought victory

Gabriels greater efficiency in front of the posts proved enough in the end. Murphys pushed them all the way and refused to be beaten. The killer blow came towards the end when Niall O Grady went through to score the goal that secured the tie, the switch to corner forward proving a masterstroke in the end. This niggly affair always threatened to erupt and on the final whistle players were seen to exchange pleasantries. Gabriels continue to head for the summit but a lot of work is required for the more hazardous climbs ahead.
